  • Yes — Mini Highlands are known for their calm, gentle nature. At Irwin Cattle, our calves are handled from day one to encourage trust and create cattle that are comfortable around people.

  • A general guideline is ½ to 1 acre per animal, depending on pasture quality and your feeding program.

  • Cattle are herd animals and do best with companionship. We recommend having at least one other animal (another cow or compatible livestock).

  • Mini Highlands primarily eat:

    • Grass or pasture

    • Hay

    • Mineral supplements

    Additional feed may be introduced depending on goals and environment.
